Designer Spotlight: Olga King

Olga King’s self-titled jewelry line, formerly known as Amber Road Imports, is based in Memphis, Tennessee. The line started when the Russian-American designer began importing amber after her move to the States in 2002.

The line of handcrafted necklaces, earrings and bracelets are each one-of-a-kind and constructed of semiprecious stones and freshwater pearls with sterling silver and gold-plated wiring components.

This season, King’s creations feature bright-hued stones that are perfect for summer.

Clutches for a Cause

Want to stay stylish while supporting a great cause? Consider Mad Imports, a socially and environmentally conscious company that sells handmade handbags from Madagascar and Kenya.

The company, launched by Laurel Brandstetter in 2003, incorporates renewable, raw materials into its line of original clutches, totes and shoulder bags. Profits from the sale of Mad Imports’ products enable families in Madagascar and Kenya to gain economic independence, all while promoting environmental conservation.

And, did we mention that these handbags are really chic?

If you're looking for a summer clutch, try the Gigi, Isadora, or Carmen clutches. The bright colors and unique designs will add a pop of color to even a basic outfit.

If you need a bigger bag, try the Sayulita or Bora Bora handbags.

For a trip to the beach or a quick overnight getaway, consider the Lug tote, featuring a drawstring closure.

Happy Memorial Day!

TrendWatch: Tribal Details

Add tribal inspiration to your usual attire by incorporating accessories with fringe, beading, and wood or stone detailing into your wardrobe. Keep an eye out for earth tones – brown, orange, dark yellow and green are all great choices.

For a more subtle, tribal look, try any of these Coconuts by Matisse shoes. From left to right, the Morocco heel, the Kalahari flat and the Niagara wedge.

Another great tribal-inspired addition is a beaded necklace, like these intricate, multi-colored designs.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, try the BCBGirls Balm heel featuring bright, detailed bead work with a wooden, platform heel.
